Terms of Use

Last updated: September 13, 2026

The short version: be 13 or older, share only what you have the right to share, use the app for what it's for — a private family newsletter — and your stories and photos remain yours. These terms also serve as the app's end-user license agreement (EULA).

The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and TCG Tech, LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of The Newsletter App — the mobile app and the websites at thenewsletterapp.com. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. When you sign up, use your own real email address — it's how you sign in and how your newsletters reach you.

Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to use The Newsletter App to create and take part in private family newsletters. That license is the whole deal — please don't copy, resell, or redistribute the app, attempt to reverse-engineer it, probe or disrupt its systems, or try to access another family's content.

Your content stays yours

You own the stories, photos, and captions you share. So the app can do its job, you give us permission to store your content, process it (for example, resizing photos and stripping hidden location data), assemble it into issues, and deliver those issues to your newsletter's members by email and on the web. That permission is only for operating the service — we don't use your content for anything else, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. Issues that were already delivered are like mailed letters: copies in inboxes and existing web editions aren't recalled.

Your responsibilities

Who is responsible for content

Everything in a newsletter is written and shared by its members — we don't write, pre-screen, edit, or monitor what families post, and we have no editorial oversight of it. Content in a newsletter is the responsibility of the member who posted it, and the newsletter's admin is responsible for the content of their own newsletter: admins choose who can join and have the tools to remove stories and members. TCG Tech, LLC reviews content that is reported to us (see below) and acts on violations of these terms or the law, but we are not responsible for what members post.

Reporting and removing content

If you see something that shouldn't be here, report it: every story in the app has a Report option, every issue's web edition has a report link at the bottom, and hello@thenewsletterapp.com always works. A real person reviews every report. If someone shares an intimate image of you without your consent, tell us and we will remove it within 48 hours of a valid request.

Newsletter admins can remove a story from an upcoming issue (for example, an accidental duplicate). We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms or the law — including from issues that were already delivered. You can delete your account at any time from within the app.

The service, free and Premium

The core of The Newsletter App is free: writing stories, adding photos, receiving every issue. An optional Premium subscription adds more — longer stories, more photos, the full back archive, more newsletters, and weekly or every-2-weeks delivery. Premium applies to the newsletters its owner runs, and every member of those newsletters enjoys it — only the owner pays. Nothing you use for free will silently start charging you. We may modify or discontinue parts of the service; if we ever discontinue it entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice so your family can save its content.

Subscriptions and billing

Keep your own copies

We work hard to keep your family's archive safe, but The Newsletter App is not a backup service. Please keep your own copies of photos that are precious to you.

Disclaimers and limits

The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the same extent, TCG Tech, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

App store terms

If you got the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply to your download. Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement and are not responsible for the app or its content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email about meaningful changes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
